Job Description

Come and share your skills with us as a band 7 CAMHS Practitioner in our expanded team in Hounslow Community CAMHS (CCAMHS).

The team provides a proactive and creative intervention service for vulnerable children, young people and their families/carers and innovative work is actively encouraged. We are a multi-disciplinary team; including Child wellbeing practitioners, Assistant psychologist, Clinical and Counselling psychologists and Family therapists.

There are very good links between CCAMHS and our colleagues in other local CAMHS services such as the Mental Health Support Team for Schools and our tier 3 teams. Hounslow CAMHS and London Borough of Hounslow have a good history of successful multi-agency work. The multi-agencies involved are keen to develop and integrate mental health services for children and their families in as seamless a way as possible.

The post holders will be full members of their professional groups and all discipline groups have good support structures, this includes cross tier family therapy workshops.

The posts will both be supervised and supported by the relevant professional leads.

As part of the CCAMHS Tier 2 provision your role will be to:

Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility in accordance with Trust policies and guidance.

Hounslow CCAMHS operates from the Meadows Centre for Health, TW4 7NJ where there is free parking. During the Covid pandemic we are also providing a substantial virtual offer.

West London NHS Trust is one of the most diverse providers of mental health, community and social care in the UK.

Our 3,982 staff care for people in hospital and in the community, helping them to recover and go on to lead full and productive lives. We aim to be the best organisation of our kind in the country.

We provide care and treatment for more than 800,000 people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow, delivering services in the community (at home, in GP surgeries and care homes), hospital, specialist clinics and forensic (secure) units.

We’re rated good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Together, we’re committed to promoting hope and wellbeing, working with patients, service users, carers, families and partners across the communities we serve.

We are keen to ensure that our workforce reflects the community it serves, particularly in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability, LGBTQ+ and experience of mental illness.

The post holder will join a multi-disciplinary CAMH service which is responsible for the delivery of Tier 2 Community CAMHS service to children and young people living in the Borough of Hounslow aged 0-18 years.
1. To work with the multi-agency members of the CCAMHS Team in delivering and developing an education/community based support and intervention service for vulnerable children and young people experiencing behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties
2. To contribute within the multi-agency and multi-disciplinary team to deliver mental health care to identified children and their families and /or carers. The post holder will draw on a wide range of therapeutic interventions from evidence-based therapies
3. To undertake complex multi-agency work with all agencies (e.g. paediatrics, education, children services) and colleagues within West London Health Trust
4. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for their professional clinical practice within the service, including taking responsibility for contributing to audit, policy and service development in line with clinical governance
5. To provide consultation and advice to CCAMHS colleagues of other disciplines and agencies with respect to their professional training, as well as taking an active role, when necessary, in the development of specialist provision of specific projects and services under the supervision of their clinical/managerial supervisor
6. To develop and promote joint working between Community CAMHS and Specialist CAMHS services.
