Job Description

The Howard School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Catch Up Teacher who is committed to excellence to start as soon as possible.

This role is for 26 hours per week, and is fixed-term until the end of this academic year.

The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic practitioner who will support individuals and small groups of students to enable access to learning, contributing to the development and maintenance of a purposeful, nurturing learning environment.

This is an exciting time to join The Howard with a number of significant changes planned for the near future that will support our move towards excellence. We have just opened a new Science and DT block in November 2021, which sees a fantastic £5m investment in The Howard School from the Department of Education. This state-of-the-art block has already been a hit with pupils and staff, helping the pupils to further their learning in a purpose built environment.

What we offer you?

The successful candidate will be someone who is genuinely passionate about teaching. In return, we can promise an investment in you and your future, offering a competitive remuneration package, providing first class professional development and career opportunities.

We value our teachers and actively support their professional development, and have redesigned our working week to place even greater emphasis on staff development. You will have access to on-going professional development including National College accredited courses. If you are looking to extend your experience and would be interested in joining our team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Our Vision

As a school, our local and national reputation where our outcomes challenge the stereotypical view of underachievement in young men continues to grow, as does the perception that we hold to traditional values in standards of behaviour and uniform. We are an innovative and creative school, responding to the ever-changing needs of our students and the demands from higher education and employers. We have implemented a number of exciting changes in recent years to support our drive towards excellence.

The Howard Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. References will be requested prior to interview for those candidates short-listed. The successful candidate will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

We reserve the right to alter our interview dates and close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response.
