PAINT SPRAYER/SHOT-BLASTER – REPAIR CENTRE
Montracon is one of the leading trailer manufacturers serving the UK, Ireland and export markets and offers high quality, diverse product portfolio.
We are now looking for a Paint Sprayer/Shot-blaster on a permanent basis to work at our Repair Centre in Market Weighton.
Main purpose of the job:
To prepare and paint trailers and parts in the most efficient time to drive Montracon’s repair centre forward. The task demands a right first time manner to maintain the Company’s high quality standards. The role will involve the use of air-assisted paint spraying systems.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
· Personally make health and safety a priority ensuring you comply with all health and safety instructions.
· Work in accordance with Company operating procedures and guidelines.
· Read and assess production information for required specification details, working in an organised manner to ensure the task is completed efficiently, to the correct standard and within the necessary time frame.
· Conduct basic quality control checks.
· Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
· Prepare, including masking, and apply paint to a range of trailers to a high standard.
· Apply masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
· Coats areas inaccessible to hand spray using brush.
· Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications, using paddle or mechanical mixer.
· Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to airhose, using wrenches.
· Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting technique.
· Direct spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
· Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer, using brush.
· Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
· May heat and spray wax onto products after they are tested.
· May use acid, wire brush or steel wool to remove rust from metal.
· May paint designs on rug surfaces for decorative purposes or for use as guidelines in carving rugs, using spray gun and stencil.
· Continually identify and suggest improvements to process, quality, waste management, visual management etc.
Skills / Ability / Experience
· Use tools and equipment used in paint spraying.
· General knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of paint spraying.
· Skill in the use and care of hand and power tools and equipment necessary to spray.
· Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time as required by work assignments.
· Good interpersonal skills
· Good manual dexterity requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as hand tools.
Preferred experience
Experience in the spraying of commercial vehicles is desirable. Welding experience, electrical experience and bodybuilding experience.
WORKING HOURS:
40 hours per week Monday to Friday (9 hours Mon - Thu and 4 on Friday)
