UK leading fencing contractor looking to recruit experienced and motivated Health and Safety Advisor to join busy Compliance Department.
Littlewood Fencing Ltd. is the leading fencing contractor in the UK, operating from its Head Office in Battle, East Sussex, with regional offices in South Wales and Birmingham. The company supplies and installs fencing, hoarding, vehicle restraint barriers and environmental barriers in the highway, rail, construction and utilities sectors. We work on some of the country’s largest construction projects, including HS2 & Thames Tideway.
This is a progressive and collaborative role suited, to a highly organised and proactive individual.
Joining our team, your primary role will be to carry out on-site auditing and monitoring, feeding your findings back to the Health & Safety Manager and Compliance Manager. You will be required to coach our Contracts Managers, Supervisors and employees to ensure that they can fulfil their own H&S duties. You will be involved in the implementation of HSEQ initiatives, including behavioural safety.
You will be based out of our Head Office in Battle, East Sussex, but will be required to travel to our various sites throughout England and Wales.
The Package
- Salary £30k-£35k (depending on qualifications and experience).

Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in health and safety with a construction related background.
- Full UK driving license.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or General Certificate in Health & Safety.
Core Duties
- Carry out site audits, prepare reports, organise and monitor closure of actions required.
- Provide individual coaching on risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Provide individual H&S coaching to Supervisors and Lead Fencers.
- Assist with devising and driving forward key H&S initiatives.
- Prepare and communicate tool box talks and safety alerts.
- Review near miss cards and ensure completion of actions required where necessary.
- Assist with writing of H&S Plans, Work Package Plans & complex risk assessments.
- Review existing safe systems of work and risk assessments to ensure they are suitable and sufficient for works being carried out.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and prepare reports.
- Carry out Company H&S Inductions for new employees.
- Liaise with Client H&S and Management representatives to ensure good co-operation. Attend Client meetings and seminars as requested.
- Assist the HSEQ Manager as instructed.
- Maintain professional development and ensure you stay up to date with current legislation and industry best practice.
Additional Duties
- Attend internal meetings as requested.
- Assist with completion of Client Pre-Qualification Questionnaires.
- Assist with creation and analysis of reporting data.
- Assist with H&S audits
