Vacancies have arisen for Full Time Support Workers at Hollybank Supported Accommodation in Salford.

Hollybank provides supported accommodation services on a 24 hour basis, supporting individuals diagnosed with mental health conditions who are working towards achieving greater levels of independence. Hollybank work within the ethos of recovery and views hope, self-responsibility and empowerment as central to this process.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be required to work flexibly between Hollybank, Victoria Crescent and also provide support for individuals, for up to 6 months, in the community across Salford.

Hollybank operates a 24 hour staffing rota which will involve working a shift pattern that will require lone-working for some shifts.

Applicants must be able to:

  • Demonstrate a keen interest in mental health and be able to demonstrate awareness of mental health related issues.
  • Develop positive therapeutic relationships with service users and carers
  • Work effectively in a team ensuring that high standards of care are delivered.
  • Identify and utilise appropriate resources within the community to meet a service user’s needs and encourage social inclusion, personalisation and recovery
  • Have the ability to use initiative and to make appropriate decisions.

The successful candidate will have access to NCA Trust benefits as well as other staff health and wellbeing initiatives. Training, support and supervision will be provided to you if successful.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 or willingness to work towards
  • Relevant experience working with vulnerable clients.
  • Have an understanding of and sensitivity to, the needs and rights of people experiencing Mental Health problems.
  • Understanding of and the ability to contribute effectively to care planning and implementation.
  • Ability to encourage and assist clients to develop and maintain domestic, personal and social skills.
  • Ability to identify and utilize appropriate resources within the community to meet clients needs
  • The ability to form positive and appropriate relationships with clients and to work effectively both on a ‘one to one’ basis and with groups.
  • The ability to work effectively with colleagues from other disciplines, both from within the Department and from other organisations
  • Understanding of the importance of good observation skills and the ability to record information appropriately, accurately and concisely.
  • The ability to use initiative and to make appropriate decisions.
  • The ability to be responsible, with the support of regular supervision, for one’s own case load and the planning and organizing of own work.
  • Awareness of current legislation and policies within mental health and the Directorate.
