Job summary

We are seeking candidates experienced in examining an array of digital devices to secure and preserve digital data, to produce reports and provide evidence. You will have knowledge or understanding of co-ordinating and managing digital forensic capabilities including the supervision of a digital forensic team.

Job description

Working in a digital forensic laboratory you’ll be integral as a decision maker providing digital forensic advice to support NCA and partners investigations whilst having the ability to demonstrate a robust attitude to digital forensic laboratory activity, balancing quality of service, value for money and timeliness against bespoke digital forensic strategies.

Working closely with digital forensics, crime scene services and Investigation teams your role will give you the opportunity to drive innovation in order to change the way we operate, providing specialist advice and guidance on digital forensic opportunities, ensuring requirements are captured and delivered to our quality standards;

The role needs a candidate who can maintain and self-develop their technical skillset, knowledge and awareness of the rapidly advancing technology and digital forensic landscape.

Working within the digital forensic team, the role will efficiently support national and international operations and projects. In supporting these you will play a key part in driving innovation and change across NCA Forensic Services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support and deputise for the Digital Forensic Laboratory manager;
  • Coach, mentor and supervise a team of laboratory based digital forensic officers ensuring compliance to Agency and forensic quality standards;
  • Good understanding to assist and promote the attainment, maintenance and continuous improvement of ISO 17025:2017 accreditation and forensic regulation for digital forensic laboratory activity;
  • Maintain a portfolio of technical competencies;
  • Contribute to tasked Agency activity, gathering evidence and intelligence in accordance with legislation, risk management and policy to disrupt and degrade criminal capability;
  • Provide digital forensic advice to NCA teams, develop digital forensic strategies to support their investigations, assess, triage, manage and co-ordinate digital forensic submissions to ensure delivery standards and service are attained;
  • Conduct laboratory based digital forensic examinations of digital media to acquire optimum intelligence/evidence, in line with accreditation and legislation;
  • Maintain existing digital forensic services, technical capabilities, co-ordinate and supervise Digital Forensic Officer allocations;
  • Ensure the support to core investigative functions including quality, secure handling and dissemination of intelligence and evidential material; maintaining confidentiality; sensitivity and duty of care; disclosure, exhibit management, presentation of written and oral evidence;
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to foster collaborative working;
  • Support crime scene activity by deploying when necessary to provide technical support.

Licences

Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

Intermediate to advanced level certification in Digital Forensics.

Failure to provide evidence at interview may result in your application not progressing to the next stage.
