THE POST – Research Assistant, Vision Schools Scotland
Due to funding received from the Department of Levelling- Up and Housing and Communities, the School of Education and Social Sciences are seeking applications from individuals to join the School’s Division of Education as a Research Assistant for Vision Schools Scotland. Established in 2017, Vision Schools Scotland is a partnership between The School of Education and Social Sciences and the Holocaust Educational Trust, that supports teachers in their teaching and learning of the Holocaust. In its first 5 years Vision Schools Scotland has focused its efforts on CPD and creating a schools’ network of good practice; its next focus is research in school- based Holocaust education in Scotland.
You will join a dedicated team who strive to continuously inspire our students and wider University community – and, through modern teaching and impactful research, continue to deliver innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.
The successful candidate should have the following:
- PhD in Education or Social Sciences
- Preferably a relevant Honours degree
- Previous relevant research experience
- Experience of analysing qualitative and quantitative data
- Knowledge of school based Holocaust education and/ or of Global Citizenship Education.
- Awareness of the distinctive features of the Scottish curriculum
- Knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust
- Good written and oral communication skills including the ability to deal tactfully and courteously with a range of people and situations
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
