The Materials Group is responsible for supporting internal and external customers in the development of current and future products. This includes materials testing and inspection using a wide range of analytical and materials testing techniques including FIB/SEM/EDX, optical microscopy, rotating bending fatigue testing, micro and nano-indentation.
We are looking to hire a Senior Materials Engineer to join us on a full-time basis to support the business, specifically in the subjects of metallurgy and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Roles & Responsibilities

Support and guide product engineering and associated functions with expertise in material science/engineering, in particular metallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, metal forming, heat treatment, steelmaking, materials testing and component failure investigation.

Define, prioritise, and perform and/or oversee test activities, analysis and measurement as required to meet core team and project objectives, (cost, quality, and timing).

Prepare reports, presentations and technical documentation with a clear analysis and summary for decision making for internal and customer use.

Develop strong technical relationships with product or manufacturing engineering teams, customers and key suppliers and escalate risks and issues to core team members and management in a timely manner

Write work instructions, materials specifications and test methods using company standard forms or on-site developed processes

Ensuring safe working in laboratory environment.

Develop, support, and follow local and corporate procedures such as compliance with IAFT

Coach and train engineers and junior staff members

Experience & Qualifications
Mandatory
-
MEng or MSc degree in relevant discipline

5+ years of appropriate work experience

PHINIA: Combustion-Technology Leader
BorgWarner’s Fuel Systems and Aftermarket business (“PHINIA”) is intended to separate from BorgWarner in late 2023
PHINIA will be a product leader in fuel systems and aftermarket distribution with balanced and synergistic exposure among Commercial Vehicle (CV), Light Vehicle (LV) and Aftermarket end markets, with embedded relationships with global OEMs and a focus on the global vehicle parc.
