Job Purpose:
As Ergonomics/ Occupancy Engineer you will support the Architecture Senior Manager on current and future Aston Martin Design programs in varying stages of Ergonomic layout, from early ideation through to product launch and beyond into mid cycle impulses. You will also deliver significant input to the team with subject matter knowledge that informs digital led interior design layout both from a primary and secondary Ergonomics level.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the team with the generation and presentation of best in class ergonomics
- Lead ergo target setting activities
- Lead and design ergo trial activities.
- Be fully conversant with both primary and secondary ergonomics
- Lead Design and manufacture of seating bucks
- Work as a part of a highly motivated & committed team to deliver projects on time/on budget.
- Mature chosen design theme model through Design Feasibility process to single theme selection whilst maintaining ergonomics as a leadership attribute
- Be fully integrated with the Studio Engineering Team
- Liaise with R&D packaging team on Primary Hard point resolution
- Liaise with R&D Application Engineers on Secondary Hard point resolution
- Ensure Ergonomics are represented within all forums
- Keep abreast of trend developments within automotive/other industries.
- Identify and benchmark relevant competitors, encouraging awareness of trends inside and outside the automotive industry
- Understand intrinsic design values - proportion, stance and surface.
- Support Key Gateways and Studio Reviews
- Support development of key cost and efficiency processes within Aston Martin Design Studio producing the best compromise between aesthetics and Apex Ergonomics.
- Use experience of Ergonomy, feasibility, aesthetics and craftsmanship to drive CAD development, aiding and guiding Design team members, and other external departments, to create class leading products.
Qualification & Experience:
- Prior experience working in OEM Studio Engineering role is a requirement.
- Detailed understanding of automotive surface feasibility, Vehicle set up, clay and Digital process setup and with experience working through creative concept phase to production delivery phase.
- Bachelor or master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- English language to a professional working level.
- Ability to use Jack, Microsoft Office Package, PowerPoint, NX or similar
