Physician Associate - Liverpool First Primary Care Network
- Salary – Within maximum reimbursable amount as per NHS England per a year, depending on experience.
- Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Liverpool First PCN is looking to expand its Physician Associates team. We currently have a Physician Associate in their Preceptorship year and would be building on this.
Physician Associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education who work alongside doctors providing medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. Physician Associates are dependent practitioners who work under the supervision of a fully trained and experienced doctor. They bring new talent and add to the skill mix within teams, providing a stable, generalist section of the workforce.
Physician Associate students already have an undergraduate degree in a life science and/or a significant background in healthcare.
Entry level requirements:
- Post-graduate Physician Associate (PG Diploma or MSc) and willing to undertake the GP Primary Care Ready Programme (39 weeks) with the GM Training Hub
- Maintained professional registration with FPA Faculty of Physician Associates or GMC
- Has passed the UK Physician Associate National Re-certification Exam – Required every 6 years
- Undertaking CPD opportunities and keeping up with evidence-base knowledge and competencies. Meeting Clinical Governance guidelines for CPD
- Will be working under the supervision of a GP as part of the medical team.
The post-holder will be employed by the GP Partners of the member practices of Liverpool First PCN, and work across the practices of Liverpool First PCN network: Abingdon Medical Centre, Benim Medical Centre, Bigham Medical Centre, Dr Jude’s Practice Picton, GP Practice Riverside, Rocky Lane Medical Centre, Sandringham Medical Centre, Stopgate Lane Medical Centre, Walton Village Medical Centre and Yew Tree Medical Centre.
The breadth of the role will be interesting and varied – to include:
- First patient contact to include history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis treatment and evaluation of patient care
- Long-term conditions Management
- Safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice
- Routine specialty clinics following appropriate training e.g. baby clinics
- MDT case management / caseload proactive support
- Support with COVID vaccination programme delivery
- Telephone and virtual consultation 1:1 / groups
The PCN will enable you:
- To be embedded within the PCNs core network of practices and their core MDTs
- Access to other Healthcare Professionals as required
- Access to live and paper-based record systems
- Support with admin and appropriate Clinical Supervision (See also below)
