Job Description

Due to continuous growth and success in the market we have a brand new opportunity for a Principal Control Systems Engineer to join a Cambridge based university spin out company revolutionising the gravity, navigation and motion sensing markets with their high-precision MEMS technology platform.
The Principal Control Systems Engineer will be an integral member of development team focused on the implementation, modelling and simulation of control loop algorithms (PID, LQR, Kalman filters) for sensor control used within avionic and space applications, along with the definition of analogue and digital electronics requirements to support the defined control algorithms. You will work closely with other R&D team members to help drive sensor designs and enable new and improved capability and performance.

Requirements of the Principal Control Systems Engineer:
– An MEng / MSc / PhD degree level in Control, Electronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
– Extensive experience in high-performance control system design, analysis and testing (preferably electro-mechanical / MEMS), including signal processing, estimation, system identification and image processing
– Good experience in software and algorithm development in C/C++, along with MATLAB and Simulink model-based design
– Good knowledge and experience of PID, LQR and Kalman filters
– Ideally, good knowledge and experience with inertial sensor modelling and characterisation, good working knowledge of analogue/digital electronics and design of low-noise feedback control systems

In return, you can expect a highly competitive salary, £70,000 – £90,000 pa (depending on experience) along with up to 20% annual bonus based on team performance, free gym membership and flexible working arrangement including remote working model of up to 4 days a week of working from home when possible.
Location: North Cambridge, commutable from Royston, Waterbeach, Newmarket, Ely, Huntingdon, Bury St Edmunds etc
