Environmental Protection Officer
Salary NS07, £24,496 - £25,878 per annum
37 hours, permanent
Do you want to play a key role in delivering Newark and Sherwood District Council’s priority of a Cleaner, Safer, Greener district?
We are seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to work in our communities conducting monitoring work, education on recycling, environmental issues along with providing frontline enforcement and investigation of enviro-crime including fly tipping, graffiti, abandoned vehicles and littering.
You will have a knowledge of enviro-crime legislation and its practical application. Experience of working within the areas of ASB and Community Safety or similar areas of regulatory or enforcement work is essential. You will be required to issue fixed penalty notices, conduct investigations and prepare and present case files for court hearings. Additional training will be available, if required.
You will be capable of working on your own, but must also be a strong team player who can fit into a busy multi-agency environment. You will be responsible for forming effective partnerships with other agencies including in particular, the Police, Environment Agency and town and parish councils.
Excellent customer care skills is essential for this role and applicants must be able to demonstrate good people skills often in challenging situations. Good computer skills is a must and you must be prepared to work in all weathers on a flexible basis which will include weekends and bank holidays, as required
You will possess a good standard of education and to hold NVQ level 3, BTEC/OND or equivalent level (or able to demonstrate equivalent experience) and be able to travel within/outside district to carry out duties.
