As part of a multi-disciplined team and a modern Engineering department, this Graduate Electrical Engineer role involves the continuous improvement of the Company’s world leading products through leading-edge electrical design. The Electrical Engineer will be expected to implement effective solutions to ensure the Company’s MOCVD systems remain at the forefront of technology whilst keeping up to date with current standards and legislation. This role will engage with many aspects of the electrical design and testing of our products and consequently there will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop alongside the needs of the business.
Objectives and Responsibilities:
- Assist with electrical design of the Company’s bespoke special purpose scientific equipment.
- Development of electronic systems, sub-systems and components.
- Covering fields of control, drive and sensor technology, pneumatic control, PLC and safety systems.
- Adopt the working practices of a modern engineering office and a company wide quality system.
Primary Task List, %Time
- Support with the generation of detailed electrical diagram and drawings of power distribution and control systems suitable for manufacture. 30
- Contributing to cross-functional development project teams for engineering improvement projects. 30
- Developing and testing new electrical control technologies appropriate for MOCVD systems 10
- Gaining a thorough understanding of the company’s products and technology. 10

- Support to production with issues occurring during manufacture. 10

Qualifications and Experience:
- Engineering / Scientific degree or equivalent experience
- Understanding of the fields of field-bus systems (DeviceNet, Ethercat) and PLC control.
- Knowledge in the design of drive systems, pneumatic control, and automation technology.
- Experience in control of electro-pneumatic/mechanical systems, 3-phase power distribution and heater control systems.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, directives and standards.
- Experience of E-Plan software
- Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience in ERP systems (SAP)
