Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the well-established CAMHS Service within a community setting. The Assistant Psychologist will contribute to the service by supporting the clinical team including conducting 1:1 therapeutic interventions under supervision, carrying out cognitive assessments, supporting clinical assessments, contributing to case discussion and formulation, collecting and analysing outcome measure data and assisting with the development and delivery of therapy led-sessions.

The post will involve multi-disciplinary assessment, formulation, and intensive intervention for young people with a variety of mental health/behavioural difficulties. The post-holder will also be required to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions provided and undertake Quality Improvement initiatives and audits. In particular, the post will include a key role in evaluating the work of the newly established CSLT which provides specialist mental health consultation, teaching and input to all primary and secondary schools across Luton, part of the Future in Mind initiative to ensure that robust mental health is promoted in educational settings.

CAMHS is a busy team working to four discrete child and adolescent mental health pathways: emotional & behavioural difficulties in childhood and adolescence, adolescent crisis care, neurodevelopmental child & adolescent care and targeted CAMHS interventions.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised psychology graduate with some relevant experience working with young people and families, as well as high level written and verbal communication skills. The post-holder will be keen to use supervision and training to develop assessment and clinical skills.

The post-holder will work in an experienced multi-disciplinary team and be able to work well in different systems. This will also include contribution to group therapies and using visual tools and statistical packages to analyse and present the performance data of the service. The post holder will be supported to form links with the other Assistant Psychologists in the service and to undertake CPD activities related to career progression. Please note that this is a fixed term appointment in the first instance.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations
