Job Description

As a Sherborne Castle Visitor Assistant, you will join an amazing team of employees and volunteers, making sure visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. This is a varied role and some days will be busy from start to finish, whereas others may be quieter especially on the wetter days! No two days are the same.

Originally a fortified 12th-century bishop's palace, Sherborne Old Castle became the home of Sir Walter Ralegh. Later a powerful Royalist base, it saw fierce fighting during the civil war, Described by Oliver Crowmwell as 'Malicious and Mischievous' it finally fell in 1645.
The castle grounds today with its picturesque views across the surrounding countryside welcomes 8000 vistors a season and is a haven for wildlife and flowers.

Please note; due to the responsibilities of often working on your own successful applicants will be required to undergo a basic DBS check and the employment offer will be contingent on this.

We are looking for people who enjoy working with others as part of a team to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience. Training and support will be provided as part of your induction to the role, but some paid or voluntary experience working with the public may be beneficial.
