Did you know that HEINEKEN own over 2,300 pubs in the UK? We work closely with fantastic operators to run some of the best loved pubs across the country. Our Pub Company is called Star Pubs & Bars (SP&B) and we believe that a well-invested pub estate, run by innovative and experienced operators, keeps our pubs at the heart of their local community, where they bring people together from all walks of life.
In 2022 we invested £42m in our pubs across the UK, this will touch 660 sites and create 700 new jobs. These investments aren’t just about creating nicer pubs, they’re about giving our customers a better experience, generating better returns for licensees, and ensuring our pubs continue to flourish in their communities
So let’s get straight to it. We’re on the hunt for a Business Development Manager who will support some of our fantastic pubs and bars in the Chelmsford, Harlow & Bishop Stortford regions.
About the role
The Business Development Manager role within Star Pubs & Bars is considered a true commercial generalist, you’ll be supporting 35 pubs and utilising the specialist skills and knowledge of a wider support team. The role is at the forefront of our relationship with our customers and pivotal to the success of Star Pubs & Bars, responsible for working collaboratively with a virtual team, including Pub Operations, Estates Manager and Property Team as the key support roles.
Overall, this role is about collaborating with your pub operators and lessees to create a great retail experience for the consumer. To achieve this you’ll create a unique Business Plan for each Pub in your remit, encompassing recruitment of new lessees, reviewing commercial terms, and delivering Brand/Marketing Plans. With a deep understanding of retail or hospitality already, you’ll be able to draw from an arsenal of resources to help design, innovate and implement the best retail solutions for each of the pubs in your remit.
Who we’re looking for
Experience in the pub sector would be advantageous but we are also open to hearing from candidates who have the skill sets required above but gained outside of the pub industry, who are as passionate about consumers and customers as we are.
We embrace learning and growth, and we anticipate there is scope to develop in this role. You’re also likely to bring experiences to this role that are not listed above – as long as you have a thirst for learning and development, not every box needs to be ticked when it comes to skillsets.
Life at HEINEKEN

Caring for people & the planet is one of our core values and we understand that each of our colleagues’ needs and circumstances are different. This is why we have a smarter working policy in place which includes access to hybrid working, flexible start and finish times and condensed hours, to name a few.
Our colleagues love life at HEINEKEN, and we’re confident you’ll feel the same way – but don’t take our word for it. Search the #LifeAtHEINEKENUK hashtag on LinkedIn to hear from our colleagues about what makes HEINEKEN such a special business to be a part of.
