4559 Data Scientist - Gloucestershire Constabulary (tal.net)
This is a new post that would suit someone with a proven record in data / statistical analysis, and a passion for IT systems that can be used to best assist a complex organisation in providing an optimal service.
The Data Science function within the policing environment is relatively new to many Forces and this is a new role within the Gloucestershire Constabulary.
The post will report directly to the Head of Performance, Quality and Business Intelligence and will be pivotal in providing in-depth, highly-skilled analytical outcomes, utilising data from a range of systems. The post will work closely with the Performance and Quality team as well as with the Demand Analyst in helping to structure our work to keep the pubic safe.
The post holder will need to be proficient in undertaking predictive analyses to help direct resources in the medium and longer term; geo mapping to assist with where we police, assessments of outcome effectiveness and so on. As this is a new role, the post holder will need to be a self-starter and take some responsibility for their own learning. They will need to utilise this into shaping a service that is able to assist the Constabulary understand where we perform optimally and where and how we can improve.
The post will need to be confident in working with operational staff to understand qualitatively where changes / improvements can be made and, be proactive in terms of influencing decision-makers at all levels. New IT products may be required to assist this work, so the post holder will need to be able to identify and influence the use of such products as appropriate. This role would ideally suit a self-starter with significant experience in the use of statistical analysis, as well have having the interpersonal skills and abilities to translate this into useful and workable solutions to meet business needs.
