We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome team as a Housing Concierge working waking nights. Batley Foyer provides accommodation and support for 16–25 year olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, demonstrating a commitment to training, employment, and education opportunities.
The accommodation comprises a block of ten self-contained furnished studio flats. Each individual unit consists of a living/sleeping area, a separate fully fitted kitchen and a separate shower room. In addition, the building houses a shared laundry facility, plus a training room. The training room is aused to provide a variety of educational & social activities for clients at the Foyer and from our other services within Kirklees.
As our Housing Concierge you’ll play a really important role in supporting the smooth running of our service. You’ll make sure that our buildings and customers are safe and secure, and that we get on with our neighbours!
You’ll get involved in lots of different activities which will include monitoring CCTV, regularly patrolling the premises, monitoring visitors to and from the building and ensuring tenancy conditions and service rules are adhered to. You’ll also be our first point of contact for customers during the night and at times we’ll also need you to do some general cleaning duties too.
Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. In this job you’ll work during the twilight hours doing waking nights work. You’ll work 2 days on a rota basis.
We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!
About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative.
If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you if you need help.
To make sure our customers are well supported, it’s important that you’ve had a job in a supported housing environment or have experience working with young people. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help to you understand how things work at Home Group!
When you join as a Housing Concierge, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
About our team
Although you’ll work nights, we do get together regularly in the daytime for training and team meetings. You’ll be part of our wider team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us we’re not just a team we’re a ‘work family’.
Our Senior manager is Lauren who has worked for Home Group for over 12 months, so is perfectly placed to support you as you join.
Sergia is our Client Services Manager and has worked for Home Group since 2020 and has been part of the Batley team since October 2022. There are 10 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!
We have Lisa our Coordinator and Zainab, Aysha, Shakir and Sajid who are our Support Workers. Barry and Sue are also our Night Concierges and Laura who is our Mental health Practitioner.
