The role of Head of Data, Performance and Finance returns at Skills Group.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Data Analyst to join our senior management team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about utilising data to drive strategic decision making.

Skills group was formed in 1994 and is the premier independent training provider in the South west of England. We deliver apprenticeships, study programmes, high needs programmes and a significant AEB contract within the region.

We are currently going through a reorganization from top to bottom in order to drive improvement and standards and this role is crucial in that drive. The Head of Data will be working closely with our senior leadership team to provide a forensic overview of our data and insights that will support the strategic direction of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting large datasets to support our decision-making process.

The head of data will also be responsible for ensuring financial returns of approximately £500,000 per month and , in conjunction with the Managing director and Operations director, the integrity of the underlying data.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, including experience with statistical methods and data visualisation. They should also have excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex data insights in a clear and concise manner.

We are looking for someone who is eager to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, a strong attention to detail, a passion for data, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of the learners we support at Skills Group. While we are currently recruiting for a 12 month fixed contract that could be reviewed by agreement of both parties into a permanent position.

Job Title: Head of Data, Performance and Financial returns

Salary/Duration: £50,000 - 12 months

Reports to: Managing Director

Hours: Full-time 39.5 hours per week

The purpose of the Head of Data is to collect, analyse, and interpret complex educational data to support strategic decisions to improve student learning outcomes and experience at Skills Group, as well as to make financial returns to the ESFA and local authority. The Head of data will identify patterns and trends in student performance, track progress and identify areas for improvement, and support the development of data-driven strategies to enhance teaching and learning. Additionally, the data analyst will provide regular reports and insights to relevant stakeholders to ensure that data is being effectively utilised to support the goals and mission of the provider.

Essential/ Desirable

Qualifications :

Educated to, or experience equivalent to level 4 in a relevant discipline

Hold an IT qualification at least to level 3 or have significant recent IT experience including high end knowledge of Access, Word, Excel and Internet browsers

Permitted to work in the UK

Evidence of relevant CPD

Professional knowledge, skills and competencies:

Evidence of excellent practise which has impacted positively on learner outcomes

Evidence of leading a team

Delivering staff training and promoting professional development of other staff

Experience of managing complex data in an environment with changing requirements.

An ability to effectively use IT software packages which support all aspects of pupil monitoring, including CPOMS, Google Suite etc

Experience creating data visualisation such as dashboards using products like One file, Pics.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

An ability to translate current educational thinking into workable, operational plans.

Strong analytical skills and an ability to interpret data effectively and use it to identify areas for development

A comprehensive understanding both of national performance measures for Further Education and the Ofsted framework for inspections and experience in using these to drive forward significant improvements within a school

Knowledge of constructing and maintaining a timetable.

An effective, inclusive and cooperative leadership style that inspires confidence and collegiality in those they lead, which motivates and encourages others to participate and go the extra mile

An ability to set clear targets, track and manage progress and develop strategies to achieve desired outcomes using a range of sources
