The selection process consists of:
- an application screening process (Stage 1)
- an interview (Stage 2)
Stage 1 - Application & Sift
To apply for this post, you will need to complete the online application process which includes providing the following:

a CV (see guidance on how to write your CV) setting out your career history, including key responsibilities and achievements.

a Statement of Suitability explaining how your skills and experience are relevant to the role. This should include specific examples showing how you’ve gained the skills to meet the research and personal skills in the Person Specification: via a similar role or transferable skills. We recommend you use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). The statement is limited to no longer than 1,000 words.
The selection panel will conduct an initial sift of your CV and Statement of Suitability, based on the essential criteria outlined in the job description. Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be undertaken using the lead criteria - Research Skills.
Stage 2 - Video Interview
Unless you are otherwise informed, the final stage of the process will be a video interview via Google Meet where you will be assessed against the Behaviours and Technical Skills and have to deliver a short presentation exercise allowing you to demonstrate your skills and experience. More details will be provided for applicants invited to interview.

New entrants are expected to join on the minimum of the pay band.
Applicants who are successful at interview will be, as part of pre-employment screening, subject to a check on the Internal Fraud Database (IFD). This check will provide information about employees who have been dismissed for fraud or dishonesty offences. This check also applies to employees who resign or otherwise leave before being dismissed for fraud or dishonesty had their employment continued. Any applicant’s details held on the IFD will be refused employment.
A candidate is not eligible to apply for a role within the Civil Service if the application is made within a 5 year period following a dismissal for carrying out internal fraud against government.
