Job Introduction
Corporate Systems sits within BBC Technology Group and sets the technology strategy and delivers and supports solutions to optimise the operational running of and alignment with the strategic direction for the BBC’s business critical functions including HR, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Resource Scheduling, Safety and Workplace.
Main Responsibilities
This role sits within the Service Development and Delivery area of Corporate Systems, where the team is responsible for the successful development and design of new and changed IT support services to successfully transition Application Products into live service, and subsequently the management of those application services including the relationships with our service providers to ensure Service Delivery is meeting business requirements.
This particular role in the team will be mostly focused on Service Development, Design and Transition, working with Product and Project Managers and business stakeholders. It includes the following main responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains strong and productive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that the varied and changing service requirements of the business are understood and are incorporated into service design and transition for services.
- Establishes and maintain strong and productive relationships with the IT outsource partners and other suppliers to ensure that changes to services are effectively managed and transitioned into support, and issues are dealt with promptly and in line with contractual obligations..
- Acts as an ITIL expert in the analysis of existing processes and development of new and changed processes to support projects transition into service.
- Support the Corporate Systems procurement of new technologies, including providing service requirements, rating suppliers service capabilities, negotiating and contracting SLA’s.
- Develop and present Service Designs and Operating Models to ensure business, product and project stakeholders agree and understand the requirements for transition into service.
- Drive the transition into service for projects by proactive liaison with internal and external support teams to ensure readiness to accept into support.
- Have good knowledge and understanding of the BBC’s Technology strategic direction and how this informs operational capabilities.
- Be required to respond to escalations out of hours.
Are you the right candidate?
Essential:
- Extensive experience of delivering ITIL Service Management best practice in an Applications based services environment.
- Proven experience in influencing, negotiating with and providing leadership to key stakeholders and 3rd parties.
- Extensive experience of working with large third party Applications Management Suppliers and Vendors.
- Extensive experience of working with and managing teams, both direct reports and in a matrix environment.
- A strong leader and communicator within teams, with stakeholders and suppliers and vendors.
- Experience in designing new and changed services and operating models.
- Experience in successful transitioning complex services into live operation.
- Evidence of effective decision-making and ability to identify practical operational trade-off options and prioritisation decisions.
- Resilient, self-motivated and organised, with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks and drive delivery to time and budget whilst minimising risk.
- ITIL Qualified.
Desirable:
- Experience of working with SAP and similar non SAP products.
- Experience of working in Finance and HR business environments.
- Knowledge of implementing Cloud Computing disciplines (e.g. SaaS, PaaS or IaaS).
- Knowledge of implementing Service Management Tools (e.g. Remedy, ServiceNow).
