To support both new markets growth strategy and existing product, we are looking to recruit a Technical Buyer into our existing team. You will experience working within supportive teams on exciting projects within the Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, FMCG, Tobacco and Cannabis sectors. With huge variety in your role, you will have full responsibility for defined categories covering planning and procurement aspects.
Your role
Within our Procurement team, we focus on providing a high-quality service ensuring that products are planned and purchased in an efficient, cost-effective manner meeting business quality and delivery requirements. As a Technical Buyer, you will.
- Work closely with engineering and Operations to ensure materials and parts are correctly sourced in line with technical specifications.
- Prepare material enquiries based on Technical BOM and distribute to approved suppliers.
- Compile and analyse quotations from global suppliers ensuring necessary requirements on price, lead time and quality are met.
- Resolution of Technical queries; liaison with relevant departments and timely response to suppliers.
- Negotiate and commit purchase orders aligned to CME’s schedule requirements.
- Negotiate and implement partnership agreements with CME Premier and Preferred suppliers.
- Proactive liaison with other departments regarding production, forecasting and demand.
- Develop and maintain proactive working relationships with supply base.
- Update and communicate latest lead-time situation for responsible Categories.
- Identification and implementation of cost saving and working capital initiatives.
- Identify, qualify and implement new and secondary sources of supply or alternative product ranges thus mitigating supply risk.
- Provide quotations in furtherance of spares revenue stream enquiries.
- Hold review meetings with key suppliers to discuss delivery / quality performance and ensure that improvement plans and non-conformances are closed in the required time frame.
- Support Supplier compliance by liaising with the Quality Team to evaluate & monitor suppliers.
Your skills & experience
- Relevant procurement experience within a technical engineering environment
- Experience in negotiations, both ad-hoc and strategic
- Experience with sourcing side of New Product Introduction, Outsourcing, Obsolescence and Continuous Improvement Projects
- Understanding of technical information and experience in the purchase of engineering products
- Understanding of regional/international manufacturing standards.
- MCIPS qualified - Desirable.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Experienced in developing partnerships with suppliers.
- Demonstrable ability to drive cost down and improve commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Good IT skills in Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel if required (estimate 5%)
