GIS Analyst – Rail

In the UK, we are delivering some of the most iconic projects which help connect people, protect our environment and meet emission reduction targets. We work in the transport and energy sectors, providing consultancy, engineering and operations services for clients such as major airports, governments, regulators, cities and rail and road operators.
With over 50 years of experience in the rail industry, we’ve delivered complex and challenging multidisciplinary projects all over the world. Our expertise extends to depots, operations, maintenance analytics and asset management across all aspects of rail, including transport, technical and sustainability assessments and systems infrastructure.
Working within the Egis Digital Asset Management team, you will be responsible for undertaking GIS data preparation and design data integration, data management, analysis, mapping and visualization on our project. Working with several stakeholders across different disciplines on the project, you will be able to understand and propose solutions to integrate their requests in the GIS platform.
As a GIS technician within Egis, you will have up to date working knowledge of:

Basic experience of programming in either Python, SQL or VBA

Knowledge of BIM would be advantageous however is not essential.
The main duties and responsibilities of the GIS Analyst are:
Collect and enrich information to feed the GIS platform-
Process data from the design team, consolidating it into the geographic information systems (GIS) database

Perform spatial analysis
-
Create automatic processes to integrate data into a GIS database and perform treatments
-
Develop workflow processes and documentation
-
Produce 2D and 3D models to share GIS and CAD data into web and mobile applications

Work with the BIM Manager to ensure the association of GIS and BIM
-
Work with the planning and project management team to deliver GIS construction strategy
-
Provide GIS story maps and thematic maps to support the teams for public engagement
-
Identify innovative solutions to problems in order to support the wider team.
Skills and Experience:

GIS Master Degree – Geography / Geology related degree
-
GIS experience : implementing, maintaining and using various GIS applications and software
-
Well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines
-
Ability to organise own workload and be able to work autonomously
-
Strong communicator with the ability to build solid working relationships across all levels of the business
-
Experience in railway or similar Transport sector industry is desirable
