Job IntroductionOur small and friendly Recovery team, within Housing Income, provides support to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
We’re looking for a new team member with strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn a new role.
You’ll be involved in all aspects of the collection and recovery of former housing debts, including maintaining computer records, dealing with routine correspondence, chasing unpaid debt and providing advice and support to customers through various channels in order to support with debt resolution.

Role Responsibilities
- To assist with the efficient and effective recovery of outstanding former Housing Debt - in order to maximise the income due to the Council
- Apply a single view of debt approach to collection and recovery processes, providing a holistic approach to the recovery of a customer’s overall debt to the Council
- Provide administrative support to the Corporate Recovery Team, including support with enquiries from customers, enforcement agents and collection agents and other council departments
- Monitor payment arrangements and direct earnings attachments for payments and to determine the next appropriate recovery action where these are not maintained
- Understand and meet the needs of our customers and identify and signpost customers in need of debt management advice
Ideal Candidate
- Ideally you will have experience of working within a busy customer facing service
- Proven experience of Debt resolution
- Flexible and willing to adapt to change in a busy and demanding environment
- Proven Customer Service experience
- IT Literate in Microsoft Office Applications
- Proven aptitude for and experience of working with numbers/financial calculations, with the ability to question and solve practical problems
