The Team
KPMG Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG) is a team of over 300 professionals and is widely recognised as a leading adviser in the infrastructure sector. IAG has locations in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh, and Leeds and is organised on a national basis.
IAG provides in-depth advice on the strategic, economic, financial, commercial and delivery issues driving investments in infrastructure and built environment across Transport, Power & Utilities, Social Infrastructure, Defence and Real Estate sectors in the UK and internationally. This ranges from providing strategic thinking and business case advice on what infrastructure should be delivered; project and programme management of major projects; supporting the negotiation and procurement of commercial and financing deals to deliver projects; to advising organisations on their asset management strategies. We work closely with other functions within KPMG to advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, operational transformation, valuations, tax, accounting, and due diligence issues.
This opportunity is for a candidate with strong leadership skills to lead our activities in the Defence Infrastructure Sector where we see a compelling opportunity for growth. The role will involve leading the development of our sector strategy, relationship building across the sector and above all, overseeing the delivery of high-quality advice to clients.
The Role
The Director provides leadership to the team, working closely with other Directors and Partners to lead our market strategy, client engagement and business development activity while being accountable for the quality of deliverables we provide to clients. This includes:
- Leading the development of our market strategy, positioning and propositions for the Defence Infrastructure Sector, with the close support of other Directors and Partners
- Building enduring sector relationships and becoming the go to person for our clients on relevant market opportunities.
- Collaborating closely with other KPMG capability and sector leads to build consensus on priority targets and activities
- Senior leadership of client engagements, including the ability to operate effectively at Board level Providing robust commercial insight to client problems
- Overseeing the delivery of client deliverables, including having accountability for quality assurance and risk management
- Providing training, guidance and leadership to the junior team members
- Having senior input into team headcount and recruitment decisions. This role has significant potential to build a team to support expected sector growth
- Being a role model for staff and for the firm's values

The Person
- Demonstrable ability to lead senior level conversations with clients or potential clients across the Defence Sector
- Holding existing relationships across the sector, or proven ability to develop new and nurture existing relationships across other infrastructure sectors
- Significant experience in a senior capacity of infrastructure project delivery, transformation or policy development within the public arena
- Experience in overseeing the delivering of complex client projects in an advisory or consulting capacity
- Independent thinker with the ability to identify and solve problems, willing to provide a point of view.
- Comfortable managing staff and stakeholders across a multidisciplinary advisory business
- Experience of developing and growing teams to meet market opportunity
