We are looking for an enthusiastic Gardener / Junior Horticulturist to join our team.
About the role:
Perfect role for a person with gardening experience who wishes to work in leading herb farm on a variety of tasks from gardening to supporting Jekka's Herb Experiences (master classes, open days and group visits).
Day to day tasks will vary and the applicants needs to be both flexible and adaptable to meet the requirements of the farm. Tasks that will include:
- Maintenance and development of the private garden;
- Maintenance of productive vegetable garden for use by café;
- Maintenance of the general areas around the Herb Farm including Jekka’s Herbetum;
- Providing support for Jekka's Herb Experiences, including Open Day's and Jekka's HerbFest; this involves weekend work.
- General horticultural tasks including potting, labeling, moving stock and watering; this will involve weekend work.
Essential experience:
- Passion for plants, gardening and a desire to learn;
- Previous gardening experience (ideally 3 years +);
- Flexibility and willing to pick up new tasks to support the wider team.
- We are situated down a country lane, so own transport is essential.
Desirable experience:
- Working on a horticultural nursery / herb farm;
- Working in a family business;
- RHS or equivalent horticultural qualifications.
Working hours: 39 hours per week and must be prepared to be flexible to meet operational and visitor requirements. Including weekend work.
Contract: Permanent position
