Job Description

We are looking for a Technician to join our growing team. Reporting into the Head of R&D, this role will assist the R&D department with all day-to-day lab tasks that support product formulation and testing, lab maintenance and good laboratory practices. This is a full-time position, on-site in our lab in Ascot, Berkshire.

Duties

The Technician will be required to:

- Assist chemists with their formulation workload, formulating according to the bulk prioritisation list.

- Provide feedback to the project leader on the quality of the formula/product specification, laboratory method of manufacture, suggesting improvements where required.

- Assist when required in product testing for stability and compatibility.

- Assist in samples preparation, filling, labelling and postage to customers.

- Assist in production trials for filling, labelling and shipping finished products.

- Ensure raw material samples are ordered from suppliers or vendors in a timely manner when needed for a formulation, keep raw materials tracker up to date.

- Ensure the laboratory is in line with Good Laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices.

- Carry out any other duties of a reasonable nature that may be requested from time to time by the Chemist and the Head of R&D

- Adaptable and able to work flexibly to meet deadlines and changing priorities.

Requirements

- A scientific degree (ideally in cosmetic or pharmaceutical science)

- Demonstrable experience working in a laboratory environment is required

- Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions

- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written with great attention to detail

- A first relevant experience in the field of cosmetic formulation and/or product development is preferred.
