The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership is a highly successful Multi Academy Trust (MAT) encompassing six secondary schools, 13 primary schools, a Teaching School Hub, and School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider. Our schools are based in North Birmingham, Tamworth, Lichfield, North Warwickshire, and Coventry.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an academic coach for reading and literacy to join our excellent team of staff at the Arthur Terry School. The position will primarily be based in our Library Learning Resource centre and will include responsibilities and opportunities across the curriculum and school site. Reading and literacy are a huge part of our curriculum and enrichment offering and we are seeking an energetic, innovative intellectual to help drive our library and reading provision forward into the future.
Arthur Terry also operates as part of the Arthur Terry SCITT, and the North Birmingham Teaching School Hub, and can offer professional development opportunities and support with joining the teaching profession.
Responsibilities to include:
- delivery of small group interventions across all key stages but with particular focus on building on the school’s reading culture in KS4
- Library support work, including operational support of the library as a learning resource centre; support of the library team during lunch and break time; supervision and academic support of students working in the library during lesson time; support of the library’s extensive online services
- deliver and innovate reading and literacy projects and initiatives, in conjunction with the Literacy Innovation Lead, and the whole school Reading and Literacy Lead. These will include competitions and promotions across all key stages; capitalizing on an excellent literacy provision and devising new projects to complement and enhance the existing offer
- whole school library projects including World Book Day, author visits, trips and activities
- contribution to the design and curation of our library collection
- support and delivery of early and catch-up reading interventions including systematic synthetic phonics, Rapid Plus reading and in-class support
- opportunities to provide academic reading and research support to A level students
The successful candidate will collaborate and work in conjunction with the English department and literacy innovation lead. They will report to the Head Librarian and the whole school Reading and Literacy lead.
