Jacobs is currently recruiting for Senior / Principal Control System Engineers to join our Nuclear Power business. Our team focuses on design and implementation of control and safety systems in the nuclear industry delivering projects from requirements capture through to installation and commissioning on nuclear facilities. There are many opportunities within the nuclear industry that the team gets involved in, from development of new reactor designs, fusion, new nuclear build and supporting the operation of existing plants and facilities. This has resulted in a significant demand for EC&I Engineers to join the team to help on these diverse range of projects.
This role will be delivered from our Newcastle upon Tyne office.
The post is for those with significant demonstrable experience in delivering solutions to the civil nuclear or other highly regulated industries. Candidates will be familiar with the requirements of working in a regulated environment and leading the delivery of EC&I engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leading tasks across the full project life cycle from requirements capture through to installation and commissioning.
- Systems integration, test and validation of control, PLC, SCADA and simulator systems.
- Execute high-quality engineering tasks to time, quality, budget and client satisfaction.
- Engage with clients to understand and deliver technical solutions.
- Manage client expectations through engagement and progress reporting.
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers.
- Develop compelling value adding tenders and value propositions / thought papers.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline (Electronic / Electrical Engineering) or successful completion of a relevant apprentice scheme.
- Eligible to work in the UK and acquire CTC security clearance.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body.
- Proven experience of leading technical teams in the successful delivery of EC&I engineering activities.
- Knowledge and experience of working in line with relevant guidelines, standards and practices (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, 61226, ONR SAPs / TAGS).
- Good knowledge and experience of delivering hardware or software-based control systems (e.g. PLC, FPGA, SMART Components, SCADA, HMI, DCS, DPS).
- Experience of producing and verifying detailed engineering documentation.
- Excellent communication skills.
