To support the hands-on implementation of data visualisation, platform configuration, data configuration, predictive models (naval and machine learning) and new product features in line with client needs using procedures, experience and knowledge appropriate for client success (including onboarding) and Agile systems development.
This is an Apprentice L7 Data Analyst which is a 15 month blended learning programme covering advanced Data Science and Machine Learning techniques with work-based project. As a Level 7 Data Analyst Apprentice, you will be undertaking a recognised apprenticeship qualification, at the same time as working as part of the company’s Digital & Software division:
- Supporting the implementation of data enabled products
- Working out the complexities of sophisticated products within client contexts
- Participating in Agile development activities
- Identify, prioritise and deliver related enhancements for development projects, software patches, regression and major releases
- Understand the flow of code and data between clients, partners, data providers, data pipelines, systems, APIs, and environments to support improvements in data quality and utility
- Assisting with functional queries that may arise from the development team and users to improve the quality of the product around data, mathematical and algorithmic elements
Your tasks will initially include:
Report writing / dashboard creation (cube.js widgets, Power BI)
Configuration of the platform and data environments
Business analysis and visualisation design
Supporting client testing and data quality improvements
ML model refinement as data improves and errors become clearer
Data analysis to improve quality of outcomes as we learn more about our clients over time
Consolidating and standardising the maths and calculations throughout our systems into libraries
Improving algorithms and optimisations mixing the best of ML and Naval Architecture thinking.
Competency requirements:
Is comfortable working with Python, statistics and linear algebra
Technically adept to be comfortable being hands-on with data, reports, platform configurations, notebooks etc
Ability to use computer tools confidently (Excel, Powerpoint)
Good logical and analytical skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively
Being resilient - viewing obstacles as challenges and learning from failure.
Apprenticeship Entry Requirements:
You will have obtained an honours degree (2:2 or above) in an appropriate discipline
GCSE English & Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above
You have basic STEM background
You must NOT study for any other government funded qualification
You must NOT already have a Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or AI-specific BSc/MSc related degree
You must NOT have extensive experience in Data, Computer Science, AI or Machine Learning (typically less than 1 year in Data Science, AI or Machine Learning)
