Job Description

Are you interested in working for a world top 100 University?

The School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) is seeking to appoint between three to five Research Assistants (Grade 6) or Research Associates (Grade 7) in Evidence Synthesis to provide support to and development of ScHARR’s Evidence Synthesis group for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) (EnSygN Sheffield). Evidence Synthesis Groups are funded for five years by NIHR to provide on demand evidence syntheses to meet NIHR and health service priorities.

Your role will include systematic reviewing, development of review protocols, leading or contributing to multidisciplinary project teams, development of evidence synthesis methodologies, dissemination of findings in peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences, and undertaking teaching and supervision. You will also contribute to grant applications for research and knowledge exchange funding.

Ideally, you should have a postgraduate qualification and/or relevant experience involving evidence synthesis methodologies (systematic review, rapid review etc), as well as a working knowledge of appropriate software such as Microsoft Office and Endnote. We are particularly interested in reviewers with backgrounds in social care, statistics and information science although candidates with other strong evidence synthesis skills are welcomed.

A key feature of these posts is the opportunity to access a formal evidence synthesis development programme to allow you to progress towards an excellent all-round understanding of evidence synthesis, and to specialise in areas of synthesis strengths. Development will take the form of mentoring, shadowing, attendance at ScHARR evidence synthesis short courses and methodology projects.

We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University, including working in a hybrid model with flexibility over when, where and how to achieve the required outputs.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
