Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a QA Engineer – Software Tester

with Calastone, a based in London.

Job Description:

The QA Engineer will be part of an established and talented QA Team tasked with working alongside other QA Engineers and disciplines within the company as part of an agile project team.

With support from the Senior QA Engineer, the role holder will be tasked with writing features and code for the test automation solution and to meet the requirements of the project. Automated tests will be built on .Net Core using the C# language with a Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) approach and full support and training will be provided for this purpose. Applications to be tested will vary based on project requirements but the role will require contribution to both api and UI based solutions.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Assist the Senior QA Engineer in the building and maintenance of automation test frameworks built on .Net Core with C# BDD.
  • Functional and Regression testing of all code and configuration changes.
  • Documentation of QA processes, practices & buildout of the QA knowledge database.
  • With the provided guidance and training, contribute to the creation of automated test solutions for functional and regression testing of Calastone’s suite of software products.
  • With the provided guidance and training, contribute to and proactively gain knowledge in integrating automated test solutions into the engineering build pipeline (Continuous Integration), including automatic triggering of test suites per component via CI build jobs and tagging.
  • Gain an understanding of Calastone’s products and associated functionality.
  • Adhere to both industry standard and Calastone’s own test automation processes and best practices.
  • Work closely with development engineers to identify, log and eradicate any bugs/unexpected behaviours.
  • Raise defects and follow through to resolution.
  • Participate in appropriate manual Exploratory Testing sessions to support Calastone’s agile approach and in accordance with QA industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Skills Required:

  • Experience or very keen interest in object-oriented programming using C# (strongly preferred) or Java.
  • Experience in or exposure to automated testing of REST API and/or UI-based applications.
  • Experience or exposure to writing SQL relational database queries.
  • Experience or exposure to non-functional testing such as performance, load or stress testing would be an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of QA automation methodologies, tools, and agile processes.
  • Basic knowledge of testing techniques such as Equivalence Partitioning and Boundary Value Analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft products such as Visual Studio, Azure, Word, Excel, and Windows PC environment.
  • Confident and articulate communicator at both business and technical levels.
  • Knowledge of the European Mutual Funds Market would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with electronic message standards such as FIX, and SWIFT would be an advantage.

  • Ensure that the software used within your business operates as intended.
  • Design and prepare test plans and conduct software testing as appropriate to ensure your software is fit for purpose.
  • Collect and interpret the results of testing and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Understand the software lifecycle and apply software development practices.
  • Document and report test results.
  • Store, manage and share test data in a secure manner.
