We are currently accepting applications for an Instructional Coach who will support our fourth through eighth grade Humanities teachers. Competitive salary commensurate with experience available.
Tessellations is a progressive K-8 non-profit school for gifted learners based in Cupertino, CA. Our mission is to provide challenging experiential education that recognizes and nurtures the individual strengths of gifted learners, empowering them to confidently express who they are and pursue a meaningful life. At Tessellations, community is a core value, as it is the reason our small and mighty school was able to form and thrive despite the global pandemic. Our team consists of passionate, qualified and dedicated staff from diverse backgrounds and includes nationally renowned gifted experts. Our first year was online only. In our second year, we moved onto our beautiful campus and quadrupled in size, and we also added our Nature Campus. We’re in our third year with excellent staff and student retention, and extremely high family satisfaction. Next year we'll be moving again to a larger campus in order to house our growing population, and in Fall 2024 we will launch our high school.

Primary Responsibilities
- Utilize the coaching cycle to improve teacher performance
- Meet with teachers to help set professional goals and assist teachers in creating action plans to meet those goals
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students
- Source and recommend instructional resources
- Model lessons in classrooms
- Informally observe lessons and provide feedback for the teachers’ professional growth and students’ success
- Arrange for peer observations
- Assist teachers in analyzing student work and in planning for differentiation
- Assist teachers in reviewing their formal evaluations and suggest actions to improve teaching and learning
- Support teachers in using rubrics to assess student writing
- Support teachers in using the Writer’s Workshop model to teach writing skills
- Maintain a system for tracking the use of Literature Circles and support teachers in implementation
- Track English Language Arts and Social Studies standards to ensure a comprehensive program
- Lead department meetings
- Review report card narratives for English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Social Emotional Learning
- Collaborate with the Instructional Coach K-3 in creating opportunities for teachers to discuss vertical articulation
- Create and lead professional development as applicable
- Attend staff meetings and actively engage with professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education
- Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience, with experience successfully differentiating instruction to meet the needs of learners
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Strong pedagogical knowledge of Project Based Learning and Humanities content expertise
- Proficiency with technology (GSuite in particular)
- Passing a criminal background check upon hire

Compensation
Salary range: $77,000 - $110,000
