Due to the continued Volvo Group growth we have a fantastic opportunity for Apprentice Technicians to train through the Volvo Technician Apprentice programme. We have Technician Apprentice positions available at our 11 depots throughout the North & Scotland region: Aberdeen, Ayr, Blyth, Carlisle, Glasgow East, Glasgow West, Edinburgh, Inverness, Perth, Teesside & Washington.
The programme gives you the opportunity to become the best skilled Commercial Service Technician enabling you to deal with the complex technology for our vehicles of the future, where you will have fantastic career options and prospects.
On starting your Apprenticeship, you will be provided with full equipment which includes all the tools to help you become a technician. You will work with qualified and experienced Technicians learning how to repair, service, MOT and maintain modern trucks, buses and coaches including hybrid technology… and so much more to learn.
The Apprenticeship is a four-year programme where you will be working towards the Modern Apprenticeship Framework (level 3) standards for Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. Your training is split between college and workplace, on the job training will be carried out in the workshop alongside your workplace mentor. College will typically be two-week block providing the opportunity to build relationships with your peers outside the workplace. During your apprenticeship you will build portfolios to record all your training, experience and skills gained throughout your apprenticeship.
The successful applicant will be confident, self-motivated, drive and enthusiastic to work as part of a team. You are required to have Math and English at Nat 5 or above, IT, craft subjects and physics would be preferable however not mandatory. Having an interest in working in the automotive and engineering industries and an inquisitive nature and a desire to fix things are just as important as academic achievements.
