The Careers Service and The Researcher Hub have recently been awarded funding for two Careers Advisers to provide careers guidance to research staff through 1-1s, group work, and close collaboration with departments, faculties, divisions and other University teams, particularly the Researcher Hub. This post is offered as a 2-year full time position, and applications are also welcome from candidates seeking a part-time position or a secondment opportunity.
We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and positive Careers Advisers to join our team. Careers Advisers at Oxford come from a diverse range of backgrounds and we value the breadth that this experience brings to the team. The successful candidates will have substantial employment experience; for example, in a research-related environment or in a sector of interest to those with a research skill-set. This role may suit postdocs with experience in academia and another sector, and who are looking to diversify their skillset and career opportunities.
The Careers Service at Oxford University is one of the more innovative and engaged such services in the UK. Our mission is to provide and involve all our clients in a range of high value career-focused services, programmes, and activities to encourage and enable them to make and implement well-informed decisions about their careers. We serve current Oxford students (26,000 undergraduates and postgraduates), 4,800 research staff, an international community of over 300,000 alumni, and 12,000 employers and other opportunity providers. The role is primarily office based, whether at the Careers Service or in spaces where research staff meet such as departments, divisions and the Researcher Hub.
