NerdWallet is seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing UK team. Software engineers within NerdWallet are the driving force behind technical progression of our front and back end systems and are responsible for day-to-day running, maintenance and enhancements. Working as part of a small and creative team you will be able to flex your technology muscles to help the team deliver on long term strategies alongside responding to short-term change to support our commercial goals.
We have over 160 million visitors come to NerdWallet sites every year as a trusted and objective source for information. We provide consumers with expert and actionable guidance across a range of personal finance and small business topics, including loans, mortgages, banking, insurance, energy and general personal finance.
Building customer facing features with security & compliance as at the forefront of decisions whilst also ensuring we are providing a strong user experience to increase our brand awareness.
- Launching multiple new product channels
- Influencing large scale migrations and technical implementations
- Shaping our technical roadmap for 2023
- Design and lead the development of high-performance, secure, scalable consumer-first experiences that helps customers to make informed financial choices
- Build out the service architecture that interfaces the front-end stack to seamlessly talk to our identity services, data layer or business partner APIs.
- Architect, develop and drive improvements to our evolving tech stack and be a key driver in back-end & data development - using the tech for the task, not letting technology decide the solution
- Implement product features that have a direct impact on user engagement and monetization.

- 5+ years of engineering experience with a proven track record of building consumer web applications or services
- Strong understanding, building and debugging of scalable, dedication web applications built with reusability and componentization in mind.
- Strong background developing using React, JavaScript, C#, .Net MVC, and building / integrating web services
- Experience with developing using client-side JavaScript and HTML/CSS is a bonus
- Experience in re-platforming / supporting platform redevelopment
- This role will be based in Norwich, UK or remote (based in the UK).
