Job Description
Role Summary
Etcembly is a privately owned platform technology company with the vision of decoding immune repertoires for health and disease. We are driven by developing data science centred models of prediction based on immune pattern recognition which are verified by empirical analysis. This is an opportunity to work in an innovative computational drug discovery team driven to deliver high impact results.
You will have a relentless curiosity/imagination and creativity, coupled with a determination to work to the highest standard within a close-knit team. Etcembly is a young company of approximately 20 people and this role offers the successful candidate many opportunities to shape their future within a dynamic and cutting-edge field of science.
The Bioinformatician role is focused on the development and prosecution of data-driven approaches to understand patient immune repertoires, and to find disease-relevant immune signatures that can be the basis of novel immune therapeutics.
You will:
· Analyse and interpret functional omics data, such as single-cell RNASeq and TCR sequencing data.
· Participate in the expansion of our core discovery platform via the innovative application of cutting-edge computational techniques and real-world data to identify therapeutic TCR candidates.
· Contribute to the development of novel computational processes and data mining tools, leveraging domain knowledge and data resources to formulate novel testable hypotheses.
· Work in cross-functional, matrix teams. Interact and share knowledge and expertise with colleagues in machine learning, structural biology and immunology.
What we are looking for.
- MSc/PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology
- Proficiency in programming in R and Python and working in a Linux environment
- Practical knowledge of statistics and data science methodology and tools applied to genetics and omics data analysis
Desirable skills:
- Experience analysing single-cell RNASeq datasets
- Experience analysing TCR sequencing datasets
· Experience in graph-based or clustering analysis
- Experience in analyzing and integrating large-scale biological datasets from the public domain
- Experience in development of bioinformatics pipelines and workflow language
- Experience in linux-based high performance computing / cloud computing
- Experience analysing cancer-related datasets
- An understanding of immunology and cancer biology
- Proficiency in programming in SQL
You are:
- A self-starter, who is motivated and keen to take personal accountability for projects and processes
- A problem-solver, who can come up with creative solutions to a problem
- An avid learner, willing to develop and grow within the company, working closely with the founders to shape the future of Etcembly
