A GSK apprenticeship gives you the chance to earn while you learn. This Apprenticeship lasts up to 3 years and is a practical, hands-on apprenticeship which will equip you with the skills and knowledge to tackle a broad variety of EHS&S challenges within a varied spectrum of work environments
We are looking for motivated individuals with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn, who are excited to develop practical and problems solving skills. No prior experience is required as you will be given full training.
Achieve your career goals on our apprentice programme
On our 3-year programme you’ll receive tailored on-the-job training from industry experts from day one combined with early responsibility to help you to develop and progress.
You’ll be working towards a MSc Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental degree through online university-led learning sessions and activities. For more information see: Risk and safety management professional (degree) / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.
If you are offered a role; you will have a buddy or a mentor who will help you to prepare for joining GSK and will be there to offer support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship.
A Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management/Science, Engineering, Geography, or Natural Science (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, etc.)
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Expected Start date: September 2023
Salary: Competitive

Our facility at Stevenage is one of GSK’s flagship pharmaceutical research and development sites, supporting the development of new drug products and their launch to market. Our Environment, health, safety and sustainability (EHS&S) apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge to tackle a broad variety of EHS&S challenges within a varied spectrum of work environments (e.g., sustainability and biodiversity projects, chemical and biological laboratories and engineering plant rooms)
EHS&S professionals at GSK are responsible for ensuring people are safe while carrying out high risk activities. Our goal is to ensure the health and wellbeing of people on the site and minimize our impact on the environment. It is intended that our 3-year apprenticeship programme provides the potential for a career/career growth as qualified EHS&S professional.
Interacting with senior leaders, regulators, scientists, engineers
Developing and delivering trainings (if comfortable)
Develop and advise in all aspects of EHS&S (process safety, capital projects, biologicals, chemicals, biodiversity, energy reduction, cryogenics, radiation, fire safety, laboratory design and utilities)
Build relationships with an R&D business group and provide specific EHS&S advice
Learn about the process each drug or product follows through to full scale manufacturing and the relevance of EHS&S advice during this development cycle
Provide input into the site’s EHS committee, Sustainability committee and Biodiversity forum
