Description

At award winning company, AXA Health we are passionate about helping all of our customers to be the very best version of themselves. That applies to our employees too! We are excited to be launching our Level 4 Digital Software Developer Apprenticeship programme for 2023-2024.

As an Apprentice Software Developer Apprentice, you'll operate within the Digital and Data area of AXA Health. Along with our government approved technical training provider, you will be supported by, and work alongside, experienced engineers to learn the skills and technologies to work within a full stack web or mobile application. To supplement your learning you'll work within an agile delivery team and work collaboratively with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Product Engineers & Test Automation Engineers to design and deliver quality software solutions that help us realise our Digital transformation ambitions.

What you'll be doing: • Working with a number of key technologies such as Salesforce, React and React Native • Building Azure hosted API's and microservices with C#, and interacting with SQL Server databases and external API's. • As part of your day-to-day development you'll work with Git to manage code, backlogs and pipelines (CI/CD) in Azure DevOps. • Follow agile programming practices such as test driven development and pair programming.

This position will commence in September 2023, and interviews will be carried out at the end of April/ Start of May 2023.

At AXA we’re adopting a Hybrid way of working, empowering our people to balance their time between home and office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. For this role, you will be expected in one of our AXA Health offices for collaborative working on an ad hoc basis.

Working Hours & Shift Pattern: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of your learning pathway, we’re unable to fulfil part-time or flexible work patterns.

Induction & Training: When you join us, you'll have 4 - 6 weeks of training, having the opportunity to meet and observe your team, attend external meetings, all whilst learning about our products and services as you go.

This apprenticeship is all about maximizing your potential. You’ll be working with Insurance professionals providing you with every opportunity to thrive. If you put in the hard work, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to further your career with AXA, as earlier apprentices have all done. This will include the chance to study for more advanced qualifications.

Qualifications

  • You should have a passion for, and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in coding gained either through relevant A levels (grades A*-C) or a suitable alternative qualification.
  • We will also be looking for you to be a natural collaborator, have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a broader team.
  • Most importantly, you must be willing to learn, innovate and challenge yourself to be the best you can be.

Education Requirements:

  • 3 A Levels (or equivalent) at grades A*-C in any subject but preferably one in a numerical or computing subject (e.g. maths, Science, Computer Science etc.)
  • In AXA Health, we value your potential so we'll also consider applications from those with a more diverse range of qualifications who are passionate about pursuing a career as a Software developer and committed to completing the Level 4 apprenticeship in Software Development.
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.
  • For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and Maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3.
  • A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.

All applicants must reside in England to be eligible for the Government apprenticeship funding
