Overview
Upwards Residential Care Services operates as a registered service with Care Quality Commission in the central area of Derby to provide personal care and support. The home accommodates one male Service User with autism and complex needs with behaviour difficulties. We pride ourselves in providing a high quality person centred care to Service Users in their own homes to ensure they can live the life they choose.

Essential criteria
· NVQ level 2 in Care (or equivalent experience) or a commitment to work towards Care Certificate or willing to work towards
Experience
· Experience of working in Supported Living settings
· Experience of working with Children and Young People/Adults
· Experience of working with people with a learning disability and/or autism
· Experience of providing care and support in a community setting and/or residential setting
· Experience of carrying out observations
· Experience of Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression – trained in MAPPA or PMVA
· Experience of working with people with a learning disability to enhance their quality of life.
· Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
· Experience of being involved in the delivery of therapeutic activities.
· Understanding of positive behavioural support
· An awareness of stigma and discrimination of people with learning disabilities
Skills and Abilities
· Able to impart knowledge, supervise and support staff team.
· Able to communicate effectively with Service Users and their carers’.
· Able to remain calm in stressful situations and display patience and empathy.
· Able to respond sensitively to emotional distress.
· Able to report observations accurately and concisely.
· Able to develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Service Users and families.
· Able to organise day to day tasks and activities based on an agreed workplan.
Knowledge
· Knowledge of Ofsted or a commitment to gain knowledge of Ofsted regulations.
· Knowledge of Care Quality Commission or a commitment to gain knowledge of Ofsted regulations.
Shifts and pay:
£15 - £20 per hour dependant on experience, skills and knowledge
The shift pattern is: 8am – 8pm days and 8pm – 8am nights (12-hour shifts) with the opportunity to pick up extra shifts. Will be expected to work every other weekend.
