JOB TITLE: CARE MANAGER
RESPONSIBLE TO: PROVINCIAL LEADERSHIP TEAM
JOB SUMMARY
Maintain the day-to day running of the Home and meet all legal requirements. Develop an ethos that reflects the Sisters individual needs and that celebrates their individual differences and diversity.
Ensure all the necessary policies, procedures and systems required are in place for the effective running of the home with particular emphasis on safeguarding, health and safety and infection control.
Address the care and health needs of each Sister and make sure they are kept safe and well protected. Provide a staffing complement and cover in accordance with the requirements of Social care legislation. Develop good working relationships within the home and provide effective support and supervision to the home’s staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Staffing:
· Responsible for the recruitment and induction of staff including staff contracts, rotas, meetings and support with ongoing staff training (Care certificate).
· Supervision and Appraisals
· Ensure the Staff handbook/policies and employment law are up-to-date for staff.
· Facilitate staff meetings, supervision sessions and annual staff appraisals.
· Manage staff and deal with staffing issues with the assistance of Croner HR.
· Absence management.
· Safeguarding – Ensure the Sisters are protected from abuse and neglect by following the safeguarding policy, reporting any concerns immediately.
· Equal opportunities – Promote equal opportunities when recruiting staff at all times
· Be fully aware of the Religious Services which are part of the Sisters daily lives.
· Together with the Bursar, develop and manage effectively and efficiently the financial, human and material resources needed by the home and to ensure the Home remains financially viable.
· To ensure that all staff are informed about and work to the Codes of Practice for social care and (where applicable) nursing professionals.
· Work with Health & Safety Advisors (Croner) to ensure policies and procedures are kept up to date.
· Manage health & safety checks, fire drills and deal with issues as they arise.
· Take part in the annual H&S appraisals and checks, fire drills and risk Assessments
· Stay Alert to any safety hazards in the Care Community by following risk assessments and safe systems of work.
· Manage Health & Safety risk assessments/requirements for the home including COSHH risk assessments and ensure they are compliant with H&S policy.
· Ensure the viability of the home when making strategic decisions.
· Manage and share the on call rota with Senior Care Staff.
Care Management
· To manage overall responsibility for Care at Elmleigh Convent
· Develop, implement and maintain systems and structures needed to run the home.
· Develop, promote and maintain high standards of care and best practise and to ensure the Sisters are well and safe at all times, achieving the best possible outcomes for them.
· Manage the clinical responsibilities including the care staff rotas, competencies and all audits
· Oversee all care plans, risk assessments and care documentation to ensure all necessary information is recorded and any follow up is actioned appropriately.
· Work occasional shifts ‘on the floor’ to maintain care practice and avoid excessive agency fees.
· Investigate complaints, take appropriate action and make reports in line with the complaints procedure and protocols.
· Address comprehensively the Sisters cultural, emotional, nutritional, social, spiritual, physical, health medical, material and other needs by developing and maintaining the appropriate policies, systems, procedures, care plans and practices.
· To ensure Staff are informed about and work to the Codes of Practice for Social Care
· As Infection Control Lead you are required to manage Infection control in the home including Covid-19 guidelines and legislation and the immunisation status for both Sisters and Staff.
· Manage the Link Worker audit, files and tasks with seniors and ensure the first aid boxes and car boxes are kept up-to-date
· Complete risk assessments and all audits.
· Immunisation status for staff.
· On Call, flexibility and availability as required.

Salary: £33,500.00-£35,500.00 per year
