Belmond is looking for a one year maternity cover (starting as soon as possible) for an Area Director of Human Resources for Northern Europe and Africa to execute and elevate Human Resources (HR) strategies and initiatives in the Area (4 hotels of which 2 in the UK, 1 in Russia and 1 in South Africa as well as 3 safari camps in Botswana) in line with Belmond’s strategic objectives and ambitions.
The Area Director of HR, Northern Europe and Africa will act as a strategic business partner to the Vice President and Divisional Leader, Northern Europe, Africa and Asia, and as a liaison between the Global HR Team and the hotels in the Division.
The ideal candidate has experience working as Human Resources Director on an international level, ideally in the luxury hospitality industry and for multiple properties. English is a must, other languages are a plus. The ideal base for this role is in London.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be the first point of contact for all HR Directors / Managers in the Area and support with efficiently managing all stages of the employee journey including the onboarding process, on property experience (including Learning & Development), and off boarding process for employees at all levels
- Establish and lead recruiting and hiring practices to attract, select, recruit, and retain the Area's workforce, especially with the challenges faced post COVID
- Develop campaigns to support the talent recruiting strategy and drive candidate attraction and engagement through social media, events, and other channels.
- Design and execute a comprehensive and integrated employer branding strategy, aligned with the Global Employee Value Proposition to position Belmond Northern Europe and Africa as an employer of choice in the talent marketplace
- Lead and ensure the timely execution and implementation of Belmond’s/LVMH’s core HR processes such as the Organizational Management Review, Individual Compensation Review, Monthly/Annual Reporting, Performance Management, Employee Opinion Survey etc. in the Area
- Lead Learning & Development initiatives in the Area and identify opportunities to nurture continuous learning and development for employees at all levels
- Lead senior recruitment and onboarding in the Area
- Handle employee relation matters / ethics cases that arise in the Area
- Support the local teams with the budget process, especially related to payroll & productivity
- Develop and mentor Human Resources team members
- Act as a mentor / coach to all General Managers in the Area
- Design/Review, as well as implement company policies in compliance with Belmond long-term business goals
- Assure compliance with governmental regulations and stay informed of current legislation, closely collaborate with the appropriate legal team
- Support any new openings and acquisitions in the Area as required
- Travel to all properties in the Area regularly
Requirements
- 15 years work experience in Human Resources with a minimum of 5 years at a Director level, ideally in the luxury hospitality industry and ideally already for multi properties
- International work experience desirable
- A passion for excellence
- A hands-on, can-do attitude
- Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
