To support our growth, we have an immediate requirement for Tier 2 Network Engineer to join our growing team. You will be using your knowledge to help troubleshoot any technical support queries and faults for our customers whilst working closely with our Technical and Service Delivery Department. Alongside this, you will help with customer networking configuration as well as helping to improve systems and processes.
About the role:
- Helpdesk (Fault qualification / remote diagnostics / Fault ticket updates / 3rd party escalation)
- Working on a help desk where your main responsibility is dealing with tickets that have been escalated by the first line.
- Advanced diagnostics of broadband
- Advanced diagnostics of SIP issues which will include performing wireshark traces and investigating the SIP packets, etc
- Improve and maintain the offices own internal local network
- The role will include liaising with several 3rd party providers and internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather/provide information required to complete the tasks at hand.
- The role will involve going on site visits for maintenance issues for current customers
Requirements:
(Essential Knowledge)
- 1st line / 2nd line support experience
- VoIP/SIP
- IP softswitch and SIP trunks
- VoIP Desk phone and softphone connecting via H.323 and SIP protocols
- LAN switching / VLAN / Layer 3. Public and Private IP addressing
- General networking experience (ARP, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, client VPN)
- Internet connectivity, NAT and Firewall. LAN / WAN / WiFi
(Skills)
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Logical diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Passion for technology and interest in new developments
- Ability to explain technology clearly to less technical colleagues
- Good organisational and time-management skills
(Preferred)
- MySQL/MSSQL (preferred)
- Knowledge of Gamma, Number Porting, PSTN, ISTN, SIP & ADSL
- Linux Operating System knowledge
