Job Description

Who we're looking for


If you've just finished school or college, and gained A-levels or BTECs, and you're not sure that university is for you, then our 2-year apprenticeship opportunity within our Global Technology function provides you with a chance to work in London, take the first step in your career and earn while you learn. As a Schroders apprentice, you will spend 20% of your time working towards achieving an accredited professional qualification; the rest of your time will be spent working with your team and gaining the skills you need to build your expertise.


On this programme, you'll be part of the Technology division within the Wealth Management division.


As an Apprentice, you will receive ongoing training designed to develop throughout the programme, where you will have the chance to improve your skills as well as your technical knowledge. We support you in completing a professional industry qualification and you'll be paid competitively above the London living wage.


The salary for this role ranges from £24k-25k.

The base


You'll be based at our headquarters in the City of London working with customers the business and technology to delivery leading customer experience based on understanding customer needs and wants and business goals. We need inquisitive individuals who are eager to ask questions and get involved with the team.



Investment20/20


You will join as an apprentice as part of the Investment20/20 programme, you will have opportunities to meet and network with trainees/apprentices across the industry and participate in training, socials and insight events.


The teams


As a Wealth Management Technology apprentice, you will join one of our technology teams, supporting the global Wealth Management business. There are approximately 60 people in Wealth Technology based in London and in Zurich.

We support all areas of the business, so you will have a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the front office, investment, trading, finance, back office and compliance areas in London, Switzerland, the Channel Islands and Singapore. We use a variety of technologies including .NET, Java and Python and make increasing use of Azure, all centred around our core banking platform Temenos Transact.

We work in small, collaborative teams and value highly the opportunities for our people to learn and grow their career at Schroders.


What you'll do



  • Learn how different technologies are developed and maintained to support our wealth management business
  • Help support and manage work items assigned to your team by the business
  • Work with business and technology stakeholders directly and coordinate with internal developers and testers
  • Support the full project lifecycle through to implementation – you'll will be involved at every stage of the software development life-cycle
  • Work on a variety of technologies, both internally built tools in Python, C# and Java and on integration of third party applications
  • Work closely with colleagues in the business to learn the Wealth business domain front-to-back
  • Perform data analytics to drive improvements in both the technology and business domains
  • Be part of our ambitious programme to move our application estate to Azure

  • Have a strong desire to learn and be self-driven. There may be an opportunity to learn technical aspects such as coding but this is all on the job

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need


  • You must be 18 years old by 4 September to apply for the 2023 intake
  • You must have gained A-levels (or equivalent) in any subjects – no minimum UCAS point required
